When you support us, you are investing in innovative, research based and results-focused initiatives. These initiatives coordinate the work of local programs, service providers and community stakeholders in the Chippewa Valley. Each Program Partner is funded under a specific initiative that is driven by a bold goal that keeps everyone working toward the same mission.
Bold Goal:
Mental Health of Chippewa Valley residents will improve by utilizing prevention and intervention programs.
Program Description:
Bolton Refuge House, Inc (BRH) is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit that provides services for
individuals affected by domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault,
dating violence, and stalking. We are the only emergency shelter agency in Eau Claire, WI with support staff available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Locations in Buffalo, Eau Claire, and Jackson Counties provide services to thousands of adults and children each year. Many people who know about Bolton Refuge House will tell you about our emergency shelter, but the majority of our services are provided to people who do not stay in the emergency shelter.

How does UWGCV strengthen your program?
United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley strengthens the Bolton Refuge House Mental Health program through vital financial support and by helping to connect volunteers to project requests throughout the year to improve the program. UWGCV also supports the program through social media posts that highlight services for individuals who are looking for support.
What is your greatest program need?
The greatest need of Bolton Refuge House overall is to obtain additional funding and resources to continue to provide and enhance services for survivors of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and stalking. Bolton Refuge House is facing a critical deficit of funding due to VOCA cuts starting in 2025 and going forward. It is imperative to continue to provide support for survivors in our community.
