Welcome! My name is Marc Goulet, and I am the chair of the Basic Needs Advisory Council for the United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley. Our council has been busy lately reviewing grant proposals for the 2022-2025 grant cycle and doing what we can to help our community during these challenging times. It is inspiring and heartwarming to see the efforts of so many in helping one another. To quote Maya Angelou, ‘When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.’
The UWGCV’s Basic Needs Advisory Council has as its goal to provide ‘Chippewa Valley residents with access to food, shelter, and medical services in their time of need.’ To achieve such a goal requires us to listen to the needs of each other and especially those of us feeling most vulnerable. Our partner food pantries, shelters, and clinics are essential to creating an inclusive community that can nurture in each other a sense of belonging.
I, for one, am a transplant to Eau Claire. I was born, raised, and educated in Maine. I moved to Oregon in my early 20’s to pursue graduate school and moved to Eau Claire in the early 90’s to work at UW-Eau Claire. I have made Eau Claire home for nearly 30 years and am proud to be part of a community with such an abundance of human and natural resources. If you haven’t looked at the United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley lately, please do. We welcome your partnership.

Happy Holidays!

UPDATE: Stanley is no longer accepting clothing or food donations.
Only money is requested at this time.
Online donations can be made to the Community Foundation of Chippewa County. This fund was established to serve and support nonprofit organizations by providing them with flexible resources during crisis situations (due to Covid, but now due to the tornado). The Community Foundation will be sending grant checks to both food pantries serving Stanley this week.
