When you support UWGCV, you are investing in collaborative, innovative, research based and results-focused initiatives. These initiatives coordinate the work of local programs, service providers and community stakeholders in the Chippewa Valley. Together, we're working to solve our community's most pressing problems. Each Program Partner is funded under a specific initiative that is driven by a bold goal that keeps everyone working toward the same mission. Each newsletter we'll talk about how the featured program fits into our initiatives.
|
|
BASIC NEEDS BOLD GOAL:
Chippewa Valley residents will have access to food, shelter and medical services in their time of need.
|
|
Program Description:
Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) plays a vital role in the community by providing accessible, affordable education and training that equips students with the skills needed to enter the workforce or advance in their careers. The college collaborates with local businesses and industries to ensure that its programs align with the region's economic needs, thus supporting economic development and job growth. Additionally, CVTC offers continuing education and professional development opportunities for community members, contributing to lifelong learning and personal enrichment.
|
|
Chippewa Valley Technical College recently renovated space to create a new, state of-
the-art dental simulation lab, which is being used to train current dental students and upskill dental assistants and hygienists to provide additional procedures.

We're here to give you an overview of what our Program Partners do to impact our communities. We asked them to answer a few quick and direct questions for better insight as to what they do, how they do it, how United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley (UWGCV) supports them, any immediate needs they may currently have and any other notes they'd like you to be aware of. Here's what CVTC had to say:
|
Please tell us who you are and what you do to strengthen the Chippewa Valley
CVTC is a public technical college with many campuses throughout west-central Wisconsin. It is part of the Wisconsin Technical College System and serves the educational and workforce needs of the Chippewa Valley region. CVTC offers a variety of associate degrees, technical diplomas, and certificate programs in fields such as health care, business, manufacturing, information technology, and public safety.

How does UWGCV strengthen your program?
United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley plays a significant role in strengthening the dental programs at Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) by providing financial support, resources, and community partnerships. This collaboration enhances the college's ability to offer high-quality dental education and services, ultimately benefiting both students and the wider community.
What is your greatest
program need?
The greatest need of the Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) Dental Program is sustained funding and resources to enhance educational offerings and expand capacity to serve the community. This need encompasses several specific areas: Modern Equipment and Technology: To provide students with a contemporary education that prepares them for the latest advancements in dental care, the program requires up to date equipment and technology. Maintaining and upgrading these resources is essential for delivering high-quality training and ensuring students are proficient with the tools they will use in their careers. Scholarships and Financial Aid: Financial barriers can prevent talented and motivated students from enrolling in or completing the dental program. Increased funding for scholarships and financial aid can help attract a diverse student body and support those who might otherwise be unable to afford the cost of education. This investment in students ensures a steady pipeline of skilled dental professionals entering the workforce. Clinical Training Opportunities: Hands-on experience is crucial for dental students. Expanding partnerships with local clinics, hospitals, and community health organizations can provide more opportunities for students to gain practical experience.

CVTC added an advanced technical certificate in Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary
(EFDA), the first of its kind in Wisconsin, so people already in the field could receive
additional education to provide restorative services, which will increase the number of
patients that can be seen, easing wait times for patients.
|
|
The simulation lab was made possible by a generous contribution to CVTC Foundation
by Delta Dental of Wisconsin. Now all dental students at the College are able to train
in a state-of-the-art dental lab.
